Job Title: Calibration Engineer Location: Loughborough, Leicestershire Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Join BSI’s Product Certification Division as a Calibration Engineer, supporting the accuracy and reliability of testing across our Loughborough laboratory. In this key role, you’ll manage routine calibration activities, maintain scientific test & measuring equipment, and ensure all assets are available, serviceable and compliant with quality standards. Working closely with our testing teams and inventory controller, you’ll deliver a high-quality calibration and control service that underpins our operational performance and supports the integrity of our product certification work. We’re looking for someone who can take ownership of the calibration function, uphold exceptional standards, and contribute to the efficiency and excellence BSI is known for. What You’ll Do: Coordinate routine calibration of laboratory instruments, ensuring UKAS traceability. Maintain and update calibration schedules, manage equipment logistics, and perform occasional in-house calibrations. Keep accurate records of calibration status, verify results, issue labels, and maintain documentation in the CMMS database. Verify test rigs and instruments against requirements in relevant standards (e.g. BS EN). Process new equipment requests and faulty equipment reports, coordinating repairs or replacements internally or externally. Identify opportunities to improve calibration processes, efficiency, and standardisation. Provide regular reporting on equipment status, forecasts, and repair progress. What We’re Looking For: Practical experience with electronic and mechanical instruments; use, adjustment, and disconnection. Minimum of A-Level, NVQ, HNC, or equivalent in a scientific, mathematical, or engineering subject (BSc desirable). Experience with CMMS or similar database systems, and confidence using MS Office, SAP, or similar tools. Strong problem-solving, analytical thinking, and attention to detail. Digital confidence, statistical literacy, and data-driven decision-making skills. Adaptable, resilient, and able to communicate effectively across teams. Self-starter who can work independently, manage time efficiently, and coordinate colleagues when required.
