Job Details Job Location: ALM-Camp Hidden Lake - Lexington, MS 39095 Job Category: Camp CAMP CHALLENGE COURSE ASSISTANT Location: Camp Hidden Lake, Lexington, Mississippi Position Type: Temporary Full-Time Pay Rate: $325.00 per week This position is responsible for: Assists in the operation of challenge course activities for the Salvation Army camps. Ensures challenge course activities are safe, fun, and appropriate to the campers’ age and abilities. Assists and participates with camp programs and activities as directed by the Camp Challenge Course Specialist. Key Responsibilities: Assists in Challenge Course operation. Assists with the execution of challenge course activities as planned by the Camp Challenge Course Specialist. Assists in ensuring that the highest level of safety and precautionary measures are in place and utilized. Assists in teaching and monitoring proper use of equipment. Assists with checking that all participants have properly fitted headgear. Assists with checking of equipment for safety and needed repairs. Report needed repairs to the Camp Challenge Course Specialist. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Physical ability to respond appropriately to situations requiring first aid; Must be able to assist campers in an emergency (fire, evacuation, illness, or injury) and possess the strength and endurance required to maintain constant supervision of campers. Ability to meet attendance requirements. Ability to read, write, and communicate the English language. Some physical requirements of the Camp Challenge Course Assistant position include endurance, which involves climbing, standing, bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity are required to manipulate challenge course equipment and activities. Requires a normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs, and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions. WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR IN YOU One year of experience leading sports, recreation, or challenge course activities preferred, or Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. Licenses and Certifications: Certification or documented training from a recognized organization or certifying body: Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) or Professional Ropes Course Association (PRCA), per ACA standard.
