Description This is a seasonal/part-time position. The pay rate is $15/hour The Camp Counselor leads and acts as a model to a group of campers in a variety of activities, including sports, competitive and non-competitive games, crafts, swimming, and field trips. Counselors are responsible for enforcing Park District rules and ensuring the safety of campers, staff, and the public. Counselors are expected to lead any of the camp activities named during a typical camp day. Job Requirements and Prerequisites: 1). Greet parents and children as they arrive. 2). Assist in monitoring and maintaining the safety of all campers in daily routines, field trips, or during daily water park visits. 3). Play an active role in planning the daily schedule and activities to keep campers excited, safe, and engaged. 4). Initiate spontaneous activities to accommodate agenda conflicts/changes/weather. 5). Assist in providing excellent customer service and maintaining a positive public image by addressing questions and concerns from staff, patrons, participants, and parents. 6). Assist in keeping program supplies, equipment, and facility space clean, safe, and organized. 7). Attend all staff meetings and training programs as required. Requirements 1). Minimum 16 years of age 2). Experience working with children ages Pre K-8th grade 3). Good skills in planning activities for children 4). Ability to communicate and interact effectively with children, parents, and staff 5). Ability to solve problems as they arise 6). Must be dependable, energetic, and have a positive attitude 7). Ability to enforce Park District rules and safety practices 8). Certified in CPR/AED and First Aid is required
