Position Location 12001 Sunrise Valley Drive, Reston, VA 20191  This is an on-site position at Reston Headquarters and throughout Reston Association. Your seasonal position may require travel to multiple Reston Association sites based on the duties required.  Position Overview At Reston Association (RA), our people are at the heart of everything we do. We are actively seeking a Camp Counselor Substitute to join our team! The primary function of this position is to provide program leadership and supervision for children ages 4–16 in a dynamic camp setting on an as-needed basis. This role is essential in creating a safe, fun, and inclusive environment where campers and staff can thrive. The Camp Counselor Substitute works under the guidance of the Lead Camp Counselor and is responsible for implementing daily schedules, engaging campers in recreational and educational activities, and ensuring compliance with state licensing and safety standards. This position also supports conflict resolution, equipment care, and communication with parents and staff. This position offers between 10-40 hours per week, from June-August, with occasional evening shifts required to support department operations and special events. These hours depend on operational needs and are subject to change.   What You’ll Bring * 16 years of age or older. * Prior experience working with children or in a camp setting. * Strong communication skills and team-oriented mindset. * Energetic, adaptable, and passionate about working outdoors. * Experience in nature, recreational games, science, sports, art, aquatics, technology, and songs/music. * Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office and ADP). * Current CPR and First Aid Certification. * Ability to meet all county/state licensing requirements including background checks and in-person training. * Can provide documented proof of a negative TB skin test. * Reliable and responsible, take ownership of role and prioritize safety. * Lead by example, demonstrate kindness and integrity, and foster a positive team environment. * Physically able to actively engage with children, lift up to 40 pounds, and maintain visual awareness while standing or sitting for extended periods.   What You Can Expect From Reston Association At RA, we are leading the model community where all can Live, Work, Play and Get Involved, and we strive to preserve and enhance the Reston community through outstanding leadership, service and stewardship of our resources.
