Job Details Job Location: PMC-Camp Rappahannock, Virginia - Richardsville, VA 22736 Job Category: Camp Camp Music Instructor (Junior) Schedule/Hours: Seasonal Full-Time This position is responsible for: Assists in the preparation and serving of meals; coordinates the cleaning of the kitchen and dining area; maintains inventory. Key Responsibilities: Provides quality music instruction to campers. Teaches music theory as it applies to the appropriate level for playing purposes. Provides appropriate lessons for instruction time. Reviews assigned homework with students and re-teach skills if necessary. Be responsible for the care of instruments during class, with necessary repairs immediately reported to the Divisional Music Director. Prepares students for recitals and concerts. Plans, schedules, assign and monitor the students work in progress and upon competition to ensure accuracy and completeness. Recommends and develops activities which will develop musical abilities, motor and learning skills of students. Coordinates the program and activity within the policies and operating procedures of camp. Promotes and stimulates participation of campers to ensure a pleasant camp experience. Participates in regular camp worship meetings. Reads devotional to campers in cabin when necessary. Participates in times of prayer. Supervises cabin clean up and work details. Maintains discipline and acceptable behaviors of students, which will create an atmosphere of friendliness and security during all program periods, enabling all students to feel welcome and comfortable. Participates and assists in various classes as assigned. Provides constant care for the needs of the campers in an efficient, clean, loving, safe, secure, and healthy manner. Provides opportunities for physical and mental stimulation through both inside and outside activities. Participates enthusiastically as a member of the camp staff team to deliver and supervise evening programs, special events, overnights and other all-camp activities and camp functions. Sits with camper tables during meals and serve as a table monitor when needed. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions: Some physical requirements of the Camp Music Instructor position could be endurance including climbing, standing, some bending, stooping, and stretching. Eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity to manipulate activities are required. Requires normal range of hearing and eyesight to record, prepare, and communicate appropriate camper activities/programs and the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Have a willingness to live in a camp setting and work irregular hours delivering a program in the facility available. Operate with daily exposure to the sun and heat and varying environmental conditions. Additional Information: Camp Staff Orientation will be held 06/15/2026 – 06/21/2026 and participation is required. The 2026 summer Camp program session will be held 06/22/2026 – 07/27/2026. Qualifications Six months experience teaching music education and teaching experience, with the ability to play and teach lessons in a classroom setting involving more than one student preferred; OR any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
