Position Title: Camp Nurse Reports To: Director, National Camp Programs I. Scope and Summary of Primary Responsibilities Under the guidance of the General Manager, the Camp Nurse will work with the Nursing Assistants to ensure smooth operation of the Wellness Centre and to provide healthcare support to all guests, staff and volunteers. This position will be a positive role model within the community and responsible for health and safety related matters which include, but are not limited to managing dietary needs, promoting general wellness (hydration, sun safe practices), responding to first-aid and/or emergency situations, liaising with Public Health, maintaining sensitive and private medical records and nursing notes, as well as providing support with daily living needs for those who may require it. II. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS The position entails, but is not limited to the following general responsibilities: * Manage medical information of our staff, guests and volunteers in adherence to Personal Health Information Protection Act, 2004 (PHIPA) and other applicable privacy laws and policies. * Manage and maintain documentation for all accidents and/or injuries that occur on-site or while in our care and follow-up as necessary. Incidents to be reported to General Manager and/or Health & Safety Committee. * Provide input on safety plans for the camp and update information where necessary. * Provide leadership to the wellness team, including supervision, coaching and support of nursing assistants. * Schedule and supervise on-call rotation for wellness team to respond to medically related emergencies while guests are on-site. Share emergency on-call duties. * Act as a member of the Crisis Response Team in response to emergencies that impact the operation of the facility. * Follow-up with program attendees to confirm their medical and health needs prior to their arrival and confirm their needs upon arrival as a part of the arrival day procedure. * Provide clear communication to all guests in all areas of health and safety.   * Provide complete first-aid services to all guests, volunteers and staff. * Organize, store, monitor and record medication for guests; assisting with medication administration.  * Contact emergency services for transportation to local area hospital, if required.  * Maintain inventory records of all first-aid kits on site, in vehicles and with staff. Stock kits as necessary. * Inform General Manager when supplies need re-ordering or replenishing. Assist with the monitoring of expenditures in line with the approved budget. * Act as liaison between Lake Joe and local medical clinics, services and local public health unit. * Ensure all dietary needs for guests are communicated to the kitchen and ensure appropriate dietary meals are being delivered to appropriate persons. * Assist guests with daily living and minimal personal care.  * Assist with the delivery of programming when schedule allows. * Plan and deliver wellness related staff training sessions during pre-camp and when required. * Other duties as assigned. III. Qualifications Knowledge and Skill Requirements * Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C, CPR-BLS (HCP) preferred. * Current and clear Driver Abstract and G licence an asset. * Self-directed & motivated, the ability to work as part of a team and independently. * Strong interpersonal skills, including patience and communication. * Proficient user of Microsoft Office and Office 365 including word processing and experience working in a database environment including queries.   * Experience and/or comfort working with service animals is an asset. * Experience working with people with vision loss, deafblind and/or special needs an asset. * Current (within 6 months of start date) Police Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Screening. * Ability to work flexible hours in a dynamic busy, environment. * Possibility to reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with other staff member if required. Experience and Education * Post-secondary education in Nursing or related field. * Current nursing designation in good standing, Registered Nurse (RN) preferred. Work Environment * This position may require the ability to work occasional overtime/flex time.  * This position may have to deal with challenging situations and/or people. * Ability to work flexible hours in a dynamic and busy environment, with frequent interruptions. * Possibility to reside at CNIB Lake Joe during operational season and be willing to share accommodations with other staff member if required.
