Description Under the direction of the Camp Director, the Camp Programming Coordinator supervises Camp Specialists, plans special events and creates a safe environment for campers and staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Train camp staff in planning and running activities. Work with Specialists to proactively create and implement lesson plans for their designated program each week. Provide additional support for Specialists running week-long programs. Review and approve specialist activities. Provide constructive feedback to staff on an ongoing basis. Plan J Camp special events under the discretion of the Camp Director. Work with Camp Care Coordinator and Camp Nurses to ensure appropriate accommodations are made as needed. Work with other members of the J Camp leadership team and Specialists to plan and run daily Boker Tov and weekly Shabbat programs. Oversee programming budget. Order supplies and track expenses. Work with year-round team to create daily schedule. Ensure camp goals and values, including indelible Judaism, are integrated in J Camp programs. Collaborate with Character Ambassador. Create alternative program plans and adapt when weather or other changes necessitate. Support Camp Office Administrator with monitoring phone and email. Ensure the safety, health and welfare of campers and staff by providing a safe camp environment and immediately and appropriately responding to any incidents, illnesses or situations that arise. Communicate regularly with the Camp Director and other members of the Camp Leadership Team; share recommendations with the Camp Director on an ongoing basis. Act as a positive ambassador of the SJCC both inside and outside of the SJCC Follow all emergency procedures at the SJCC. Perform work on weekends and evenings as needed to meet applicable deadlines or scheduling needs. Other duties as assigned. Supervisory Responsibilities: This position supervises Camp Specialists. Requirements Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Education/Experience: Experience and/or training working with children required. Camp or similar youth recreation experience required. Other Skills: Current CPR/AED and First Aid Certification for adults/infants/children, through an approved certifying body. Openness to learning
