Description
Overview Join The Wilds as a Seasonal Groundskeeper and help maintain the beauty and safety of our grounds while working in a unique conservation setting! Responsible for mowing, grounds upkeep, campsite maintenance, and facility cleaning to maintain a safe and well‑presented campground. Includes equipment operation, outdoor work, and support of maintenance projects. Responsibilities Grounds Maintenance & Landscaping Mow and trim all designated areas on a scheduled basis. Use lawn equipment to maintain public areas and sport courts. Paint signs and gates on a scheduled basis. Assist with watering plant species around the campground. Conduct daily equipment checks (mowers, trimmers, blowers, carts) and report maintenance needs. Assist with storm cleanup, downed branches, and weather-related grounds issues as needed. Campsite Upkeep & Facility Care Perform daily trash removal and disposal in appropriate areas. Inspect and maintain grounds to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment. Perform minor maintenance tasks, such as changing lightbulbs and restocking restrooms. Clean shower houses daily. When needed, help maintain campsites, including cleaning grills and firepits between guest stays. Maintain the dog park area to ensure a safe space for visiting pets. Help with basic campsite issues. Clear walkways, paths, and common areas of debris to maintain guest accessibility and safety. Maintenance Support & Special Projects Assist the maintenance department with projects and special events as needed. Follow all safety protocols related to power equipment, chemical handling, and PPE usage. Operate two‑way radios for effective communication with team members and management. Mission Support Support the mission of The Wilds, Columbus Zoo, Zoombezi Bay, and Safari Golf Club. Qualifications Experience & Skills 18 years of age or older. Experience mixing and spraying herbicide preferred. Experience operating a zero‑turn mower and tractors preferred. Strong independent decision‑making and problem‑solving skills. Positive, professional attitude with excellent teamwork skills. Good communication skills (verbal and written). Ability to plan and organize tasks efficiently. Basic understanding of groundskeeping safety practices, including chemical and equipment handling. Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision in an outdoor environment. Physical & Schedule Requirements Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays. Ability to work long shifts outdoors in all weather conditions. Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs. Compliance & Employment Requirements Possession of a valid state‑issued driver’s license with a good driving record. Successfully complete a pre‑employment drug screening and background check. Subject to Drug‑Free Workplace Policy, BMV check, and Criminal Background Check.
