The Woodlawn Campus of the University of Chicago Charter School (UCW) opened in September 2006 and moved to its new building at 6300 South University Avenue, serving students in grades 6 through 12, in January 2018. Collectively, the UCW campus leadership and staff strive to:

POSITION OVERVIEW

The success of UCCS’ network-wide mission to achieve a college-going culture for all students depends on the dedicated work of the Campus Academic Advisor and Programmer. The Campus Academic Advisor and Programmer is a new position. The position reports to the High School Director who reports to the UCW Head of Campus. The Campus Academic Advisor and Programmer will be responsible for creating, managing, and modifying all student/teacher academic and master schedules for grades 6 through 12, with a goal of ensuring that UCCS’ classes and programs are structured in such a way that students are prepared for a seamless matriculation to college. The Campus Academic Advisor and Programmer is a 12-month position. Work through the summer months is critical to completion of job duties. To the extent that programming work requires or allows for additional counseling activity as well as academic advising to scholars and parents to ensure 100% of UCW scholars are on track for graduation. Thus, the Campus Academic Advisor and Programmer may be asked to engage in some student counseling.
Primary duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
Oversee and manage all school-wide scheduling and programming at the campus

Prioritize scheduling for diverse learner students including testing logistics in partnership with the UCW Special Education Case Manager and Special Education Team Leads

Plan and coordinate all school-wide assessments including, IAR, ACT, PreACT, ISBE Science, in compliance with all requirements of the Illinois State Board of Education, (“ISBE”), and the Chicago Public Schools, (“CPS”)

Ensure that course selections for high school meet ISBE’s graduation requirements

Support master scheduling, bell schedules and teacher schedules in partnership with and between the middle and high schools

Assist with student scheduling, programming, and design activities to meet individual student graduation and postsecondary enrollment needs

Coordinate test prep activities and assist the testing coordinator with the administration of school-wide tests, such a ACT, PreACT, Illinois Science Assessment, Advanced Placement, etc

Ensure that course descriptions are an accurate description of the course offerings, taking on the scholar placement and scheduling of all expeditionary academic programs such as but not limited to dual enrollment, Urban Alliance, ACT Prep, etc

Collaborate with Credit Recovery Coordinator to develop clear systems and structures around student registration, parent communication, and help monitor/track student participation

- Collaborate with Grade Level Team Leads around on-track strategies and supports

DEGREES, EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS

  • College degree required; education degree preferred; masters’ degree preferred
  • 3 years’ experience with academic programming in middle and high school settings strongly preferred
  • Professional Education Licensure preferred
  • 3 years’ experience working with a diverse group of young people in a variety of educational situations required
  • Educational experiences with adolescent teens preferred
  • Professional Education Licensure preferred
  • Proficiency in technical programming, and in using data to monitor results

    Pay Range: $74,305.00 – $96,160.00
    The included pay rate or range represents the University of Chicago Charter School’s good faith estimate of the possible compensation offer for this role at the time of posting. The salary will be commensurate of years of experience and education.
