Description Job Objective: To help maintain a safe and secure campus during overnight hours where students, faculty, staff, and visitors feel protected, supported, and secure. Job Responsibilities: Provide primary campus safety and security coverage during overnight hours. Respond to suspicious activity reports. Notify appropriate off-campus personnel as per department policy. (i.e. Fire Department, Ambulance or Sheriffs Department) Notify proper campus authorities per standard operating procedures and direction of supervisor. Respond to reports of crimes, take a report, and notify appropriate personnel. Lock and unlock buildings per schedule. Respond to room lockouts. Respond to jump-starts for vehicles. Issue keys for transportation vehicles. Perform routine safety and security patrols of campus. Enforce parking and traffic regulations by issuing tickets to violators. Conduct boiler checks for Buildings and Grounds. Direct traffic and park cars at special events. Change surveillance tapes in recorders daily. Put up and take down flags. Issue temporary parking permits. Monitor weather and call in grounds crew as needed. Report broken or damaged equipment to building and grounds for repair. Notify supervisor of any safety hazards. Perform other duties as assigned. The approved rate of pay for this position is : $20.00 - $22.00/hr Requirements Preparation and Training Maintain a valid NYS driver’s license and a clean driving record as defined by college policy. NYS security guard license, advanced first aid certification and CPR certification required. Associates degree in Criminal Justice or related field preferred. Experience At least two years of security related experience. Excellent interpersonal skills and attention to detail. Strong communication skills, particularly when faced with stressful situations. Prior Law Enforcement experience preferred but not required.
