Position Overview The Campus Safety Specialist is a mission-driven role responsible for ensuring the daily safety, security, and operational readiness of Cherry Hills Christian School’s campus. Reporting to the Director of Campus Security, this position leads campus security efforts, supports facilities operations, and cultivates a safe, structured, and welcoming environment for students, families, staff, and visitors. Blending vigilance, servant leadership, and operational awareness, this role protects people and property while modeling Christ-centered character in every interaction. The Campus Safety Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining a secure learning environment aligned with the mission and values of Cherry Hills Christian School. Key Responsibilities Spiritual Leadership & Community Engagement Pursue full devotion to Christ and live the life we are inviting others to live Manifest the Fruits of the Spirit in work habits and relationships Embody other-centered, servant leadership in all interactions Be an active, engaged member of the school community Attend and serve at school-wide, all-hands-on-deck events Accept and uphold CHC’s Essentials of Faith Support Daily Campus Security Patrol and monitor the campus to ensure the safety and well-being of students and staff and the security of facilities Monitor visitor access during school hours to ensure only authorized persons enter, to maintain a safe and secure campus Maintain campus security by protecting property against vandalism, illegal entry, fire, and theft Inspect doors, windows, gates, alarms, and grounds to ensure proper operation and security Intervene in situations likely to result in disruption or injury and redirect students appropriately Promote student responsibility for behavior and attitude by serving as a professional role model Ensure smooth traffic flow through hallways and common areas Assist with supervision during lunch periods, morning arrival, and afternoon dismissal Assist staff, police, and emergency personnel in handling emergencies or disruptive situations Respond to fire and burglar alarms and summon emergency services as needed Identify and report fire, safety, maintenance, or security hazards Monitor visitor access, assist guests with directions and identification procedures, and escort unauthorized individuals off campus Report discipline infractions, vandalism, unauthorized visitors, and unusual activity to administration Immediately notify appropriate personnel of potentially dangerous or emergency situations, including suspected abuse, substance use, severe medical conditions, or mental health concerns Protect confidentiality of student and staff records and use discretion within legal guidelines Wear designated security attire in a professional and presentable manner After hours security coverage for dances and sporting events (schedule will be provided) Other duties as assigned Facilities & Operational Support Ensure the campus is prepared for daily operations Place and manage gate access and carpool cones for safe drop-off and pick-up Inspect buildings and grounds for safety, health, and maintenance issues Assist the Day Porter with preparing rooms for meetings and large group events Support compliance with fire, health, and safety inspections and coordinate necessary repairs or upgrades Assist with seasonal snow removal at entrances and lobby areas Support setup and teardown for special school events Relationship & Communication Excellence Cultivate positive, relational connections with children and families Provide a safe, structured environment with high accountability and consistency Pray for the children and families you serve Manage email, voicemail, and communication requests in a timely and professional manner Maintain confidentiality and build trust through discretion and service-oriented communication Position Details Title: Campus Safety Specialist Reports To: Director of Campus Security Position Type: Full-time, salary / non-exempt (some overtime requirements) Hours: 40+ hours/week (year-round), 7:15 am - 3:45 pm Salary Range: $65,000 - $80,000, based on experience Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, 403B Retirement Location: Cherry Hills Christian School – Highlands Ranch, CO Accepting applications through March 31, 2026 Requirements QUALIFICATIONS We are seeking candidates who demonstrate the following: Strong and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, evident in both personal and professional life Agreement with and commitment to uphold the mission, values, and faith statement of Cherry Hills Christian School High school diploma required Minimum of three years experience as a security officer, campus supervisor, or law enforcement officer or similar preferred Valid Colorado driver’s license with safe driving record required Willingness to work after school events (games, dances, etc.) Certifications & Training Current and valid CCW permit Basic Handgun Safety training Self-defense and de-escalation training Active Shooter Response training Threat assessment and emergency preparedness training School Safety and Security training CPR/AED/First Aid certification (including EpiPen and Bloodborne Pathogens) required Basic SRO or School Security Officer (NASRO) Certification required within one year of hire Knowledge & Skills Knowledge of investigative techniques, surveillance, and security procedures Understanding of crowd control practices Knowledge of safety regulations and emergency response protocols Knowledge of facilities operations, basic maintenance Strong observational and problem-solving skills Professional demeanor and ethical conduct Ability to respond calmly and effectively in high-pressure situations Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment Bilingual in Spanish, a plus Must be able to pass a criminal background check Must be able to uphold and support the mission statement, values, and faith statement
