Description

Designer Greetings, one of the largest greeting card publishers in North America, is currently seeking a Business Development Manager in the Province of Newfoundland.
Responsibilities include management and expansion of existing business with the emphasis on prospecting and closing new business in the independent grocery, drug and value specialty shop channels. Covers all sales functions in an assigned territory; solicits and secures orders from potential and existing customers, provides customer service as required and prepares annual forecast reports. Position Reports to VP of Sales.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

· Wholesale or retail sales and/or merchandising representative with at least 3-5 years of experience (prior experience in greeting card or gift industry a plus).
· Ability to work in a high-intensity, fast-paced environment.
· Ability to meet physical demands of jobs, including lifting, standing and walking,
· Excellent communication skills, self-motivated, self-starter, sense of urgency, personable and well organized.
· Willingness to travel extensively by car and by air.
. Set-up new account card programs and attend trade shows as needed.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

· Secures orders from existing and potential customers by means of visiting the customer facility or contacting by phone or email.
· Secures opportunities to quote on customer requirements.
· Follow up (by phone or visit) on quotations submitted to customers.
· Establishes professional customer/vendor relationship with appropriate customer personnel (purchasing, quality assurance, management, and other key personnel.
· Performs all assigned duties in the assigned sales territory.
· Provides a territory sales forecast on a monthly basis.

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Performs any directly related appropriate duties assigned by the VP of Sales.
. Provides VP of sales with a weekly call report.
· Keeps management informed of competition as well as progress towards established goals.
