Description

Position Summary Nucor Rebar Fabrication is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Payroll Manager to lead our Canadian Dayforce payroll team. This role oversees the end-to-end payroll process across multiple provinces, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely payroll processing for all Canadian teammates.
Key Responsibilities

Leadership & Oversight

  • Supervise and support a team of Payroll Administrators; provide training, performance feedback, and mentorship.
  • Ensure payroll deadlines are met and quality standards are upheld across all regions.
  • Maintain a service-oriented mindset focused on teammate experience.

Payroll Processing

  • Oversee full-cycle payroll processing for multiple Canadian provinces, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal and provincial legislation.
  • Ensure proper remittance of statutory deductions (CPP, EI, taxes, etc.) and third-party payments.
  • Manage year-end processes including T4’s, T4-A’s, T2200’s, RL-1s, and taxable benefits adjustments and reconciliation.

Compliance & Auditing

  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation, ESA requirements, CRA policies, and union agreements.
  • Ensure all payroll activities adhere to internal controls and company policies.
  • Lead internal and external payroll audits, working with Finance and HR as needed.

Systems & Reporting

  • Manage payroll systems (Dayforce), including configuration, troubleshooting, and upgrades.
  • Generate payroll reports, metrics, and reconciliations for internal stakeholders.
  • Support integration efforts between payroll and accounting/HR systems.
  • Provide backup support for the Navision payroll team.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Business, or a related field.
  • National Payroll Institute PLP certification
  • Minimum 7 years of full-cycle Canadian payroll experience, including 3+ years in a leadership/supervisory role.
  • Experience managing multi-provincial payrolls (including Quebec) and unionized environments preferred.
  • Strong working knowledge of Canadian payroll regulations, tax laws, and employment standards.

Skills

  • Proficiency in payroll software systems (Dayforce and or Navision experience preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team leadership skills.
  • High attention to detail and confidentiality.
