Job Description As a Candidate Stormwater Engineer in our Stormwater team, you will provide technical and specialist analysis and design support in stormwater drainage, hydrology, and flood management for a wide range of infrastructure projects, including roads, railways, and urban developments across Africa and globally. The successful candidate will be based in Cape Town or Durban, South Africa. Key Responsibilities The successful applicant will be expected to undertake: Here is what you will do: Hydrological analysis of storm rainfall events Hydrological and hydraulic analysis of catchment runoff and watercourses Hydraulic modelling and design of stormwater reticulation systems, culverts, scour protection, and other flood control structures Design of sustainable urban drainage systems (SuDS) Preparation of project specifications, bills of quantities, and tender documentation Stormwater master planning and flood risk assessments Road drainage and hydraulic design of major and minor structures Here’s what we’re looking for: 0–3 years of experience in a similar role – essential Experience in hydrological studies, hydraulic analysis, and design of stormwater infrastructure such as culverts and bridges – advantageous Experience in designing stormwater reticulation systems, scour protection, flood control structures, and runoff treatment and management devices – advantageous Familiarity with detailed road drainage design and multi-disciplinary interfaces – advantageous Proficiency in drainage analysis and design software (e.g., HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, TUFLOW, PCSWMM, AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GIS) – highly advantageous Programming skills (e.g., Python) – advantageous Strong verbal and written communication skills Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent – required Additional Information At AECOM, you will have freedom to grow in a world of opportunity At AECOM, our Freedom to Grow philosophy supports flexibility and balance to help our people thrive.
