Description

The Cannabis Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that all operations at our licensed cannabis cultivation facility comply with local, state, and federal regulations. This role is critical to maintaining licensure and avoiding violations that could jeopardize the business. The Compliance Manager will assist the company’s Compliance Director with policy and process implementation, and will oversee the company’s compliance programs, conduct internal audits, train staff, and serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Regulatory Affairs, Public Health, Business Administration, Legal Studies, or a related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in regulatory compliance, with at least 2 years in the cannabis, pharmaceutical, food production, or other highly regulated industry.
  • In-depth knowledge of cannabis regulations in Ohio.
  • Strong understanding of seed-to-sale tracking systems.
  • Adept with Microsoft Suite software and its equivalents.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational, leadership, and problem-solving abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience working directly with state cannabis licensing authorities.
  • Experience managing compliance in both cultivation and manufacturing/processing settings.
  • Familiarity with GMP, OSHA, and environmental regulations.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • This position operates in a combination of office and cultivation environments.
  • Must be able to pass pre-employment and ongoing FBI/BCI background screenings in accordance with state cannabis regulations.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and conduct facility inspections as needed

  • Develop and conduct compliance training programs for all staff, including new hires, onboarding, and continuing education.
  • Maintain training records and verify employee adherence to regulatory and internal standards

Responsibilities

Regulatory Compliance:

  • Adhere to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Develop and implement SOPs to ensure ongoing compliance with cannabis cultivation and cannabis processing regulations.
  • Prepare and submit required documentation to regulatory agencies (e.g., licensing renewals, variance requests, incident reports).

Internal Audits & Inspections:

  • Conduct regular facility inspections and internal audits to identify risks or non-compliance issues.
  • Lead corrective and preventive action plans (CAPAs) in response to audits or inspections.

Training & Education:

  • Develop and conduct compliance training programs for all staff, including new hires, onboarding, and continuing education.
  • Maintain training records and verify employee adherence to regulatory and internal standards.

Reporting & Documentation:

  • Ensure accurate and timely recordkeeping, including seed-to-sale tracking, pesticide use, batch testing, waste disposal, and security logs.
  • Maintain up-to-date compliance documentation for all aspects of cultivation and processing operations.

Regulatory Communication:

  • Act as the primary point of contact for state and local regulators.
  • Lead the response to inspections, investigations, or notices of violation, including coordination of response and mitigation strategies.
