Meta is seeking an experienced Capacity Engineer to lead strategic capacity engineering initiatives that will enable Meta’s ambitious infrastructure scaling goals. You will drive discipline-wide impact across Infrastructure and company-wide initiatives, serving as the subject matter expert for data center capacity engineering. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategies that maximize optionality while minimizing costs, working upstream to understand evolving business requirements, and creating solution sets that enable Meta’s leadership in AI and core product infrastructure.This role is critical to executing Meta’s data center strategy and requires deep technical expertise in Capacity as well as the ability to strategically influence partners.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 10+ years of experience in infrastructure capacity engineering, production engineering, data center operations, or related technical domains
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent technical field
  • Proven expertise in large-scale infrastructure planning with demonstrated impact on multi-billion dollar infrastructure portfolios
  • Deep understanding of data center technologies including power systems, cooling, networking, and server hardware
  • Experience with capacity modeling, demand forecasting, and resource optimization at hyperscale
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools including SQL, Python, R, or similar programming languages
  • Track record of driving discipline-wide initiatives with measurable business impact
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently in ambiguous, high-impact areas and create solutions from nothing
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority across multiple organizations
  • Exceptional communication skills with ability to engage effectively with senior leadership, technical teams, and external partners
  • Proven track record of building trusted relationships across organizations and externally with senior-level peers and leaders
  • Experience mentoring and developing other engineers within and outside the immediate organization

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with AI/ML infrastructure planning and large-scale GPU cluster deployments
  • Background in hyperscale data center operations
  • Knowledge of infrastructure automation
  • Understanding of network architecture and distributed systems at hyperscale
Responsibilities
  • Lead development and execution of data center supply strategies supporting Meta’s growth trajectory through 2030
  • Work upstream with Product, AI Research, and Infrastructure teams to understand evolving capacity requirements for GenAI, core products, and emerging technologies
  • Drive implementation of key strategies across the broader infrastructure orgs
  • Partner with Site Development, Energy, and Construction teams to establish strategic pipeline of data center sites with sustainable power solutions over the long term
  • Lead the Data Center Meta Capacity Planning (MCP) processes, providing strategic input to quarterly reviews with company leadership
  • Lead efficiency programs focused on improving utilization, reducing waste, and maximizing return on infrastructure investments
  • Establish and maintain cross-functional partnerships with key stakeholders including Network Engineering, Hardware Engineering, Finance, and Product teams
  • Drive requirement gathering processes that translate business needs into concrete capacity and infrastructure roadmaps
  • Lead strategic initiatives to improve demand forecasting accuracy and capacity modeling capabilities
  • Design and implement strategies that maximize optionality while minimizing financial risk across Meta’s global data center portfolio
  • Create scenario planning models and decision frameworks for capacity investments under uncertainty
  • Serve as technical authority on data center capacity planning methodologies, tools, and best practices across the Infrastructure organization
  • Drive development and continuous improvement of next-generation capacity management software tools and automation systems to support hyperscale operations
