Our Glasgow-based Capital Accounting Team is responsible for project and asset management, ensuring strong delivery of our capitalisation and projects process. This role leads the team and works with a wide range of stakeholders across the complex Heathrow business supporting annual capital expenditure of £1bn.
The role holder will work collaboratively with leaders and colleagues to deliver effective and efficient services and to lead and coach the team of 9 to deliver operational excellence. Additionally, they will play a key role in influencing, shaping and driving service delivery operational and strategic improvements. In this role you will engage with a wide range of stakeholders including Financial Control, PMO, Project Control, Project Management and Capital Portfolio Business Partnering teams.

You will need experience from a capital-intensive environment with long-term capital projects coupled with mature team leadership. You should be an excellent stakeholder manager with experience managing internal and external relationships.

  • Managing optimal delivery of our capitalisation and projects process.
  • Reviewing and signing off from a delivery perspective of month end subledger balance sheet and looking for opportunties/risks.
  • Service Delivery presentations to senior stakeholders/ customers.
  • Business scorecard performance management to drive high performance and good customer service.
  • Leading and managing the Capital accounting team, driving strategic initiatives and ensuring key deliverables are met efficiently and effectively.
  • Qualified/part-qualified accountant with exposure to a Capital-intensive environment and long-term Capital projects
  • Managerial experience of leading, coaching and motivating teams
  • Experience of implementing high-impact continuous improvement initiatives
  • Reflective with the demonstrable ability to adapt self or others to embrace change and deliver results
  • Strong analytical mindset and appetite to solve problems and motivate a team to do so
  • Strong communications skills with a demonstrable track record of excellent stakeholder engagement and ability to influence recommendations and decisions
  • Ability to work at times in a changing environment with some level of ambiguity while able to self-manage and sometimes to tight timeframes, and under pressure
