Job Overview:
A Captain/Lead Server plays a crucial role in delivering an exceptional dining experience by providing attentive, friendly, and professional service to guests. The Captain is responsible for taking orders, serving food and beverages, and ensuring customer satisfaction throughout the dining experience, while also focusing on tableside details. This position requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Captains are also expected to have a deep knowledge of the menu, make recommendations, address any guest inquiries, and collaborate with kitchen and bar staff to ensure smooth service. The ability to communicate any guest allergy concerns confidently and accurately deliver dietary restrictions to the kitchen and service team is a must. A successful Service Captain is personable, efficient, and dedicated to creating a welcoming atmosphere for every guest.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior experience as a server or in the hospitality industry is necessary for this role.
  • Strong customer service skills with a positive and professional attitude.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Knowledge of food safety standards and responsible alcohol service is a plus.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods (up to 8 hours or more) during shifts.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs (e.g., trays, food, beverage service items).
  • Capability to move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 lbs without assistance.
  • Must be able to grasp, turn, and manipulate objects of varying size and weight, requiring fine motor skills and hand-eye coordination.
  • Ability to bend, kneel, and stoop to perform cooking tasks or handle tasks below the waist level.
  • Ability to move through narrow, confined, or elevated spaces (e.g., tight kitchen spaces or elevated service ramps).
  • Ability to work on sloping, uneven, or slippery surfaces as well as up and down stairs.
  • Must have the ability to reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, and pulling.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail, especially during peak service hours.
