REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the motor trade with a strong background in used vehicle sourcing and purchasing.
  • Excellent knowledge of the Irish and UK car market, including makes, models, residual values, and demand cycles.
  • Proven negotiation and deal-closing skills.
  • Strong network of trade contacts and auction experience.
  • Ability to assess vehicle condition and value accurately.
  • Full, clean Irish driving licence.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Proficient in using digital platforms and tools for sourcing and analysis.

ROLE OVERVIEW

The Car Buyer will be responsible for sourcing, evaluating, and purchasing quality used vehicles that meet our stock requirements. The ideal candidate will have proven industry experience, strong market knowledge, and excellent negotiation skills. This is a key role that directly impacts stock mix, profitability, and customer satisfaction.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Source and purchase used vehicles from trade, auction, online platforms, leasing companies, and private sellers.
  • Evaluate vehicles for condition, history, mileage, and market demand.
  • Negotiate competitive purchase prices to maximise profitability.
  • Maintain and develop supplier networks and industry contacts.
  • Monitor market trends, competitor stock, and customer preferences to ensure an optimal stock profile.
  • Work closely with the sales team to align buying strategy with sales performance and demand.
  • Ensure all purchased vehicles comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage stock levels effectively to support sales targets.
  • Provide regular reporting on purchasing activity, margins, and market insights.
