Primary objective
Provide high-level, technical, scientific, and engineering advice and strategic analysis to inform the development of a carbon
capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) legislative framework for the Northern Territory.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Research and analyse the technical criteria, developments and challenges related to CCUS and provide technical advice
to inform the development of world class CCUS legislation for the Northern Territory context.
2. Produce high-level technical reports, options papers, and briefings to underpin decision making in the development of a
CCUS regulatory framework.
3. Support the Department on various technical working groups, with both internal and external stakeholders.
4. As a member of the CCUS Development Team, work to maintain effective collaborative working relationships with key
internal and external stakeholders at all levels.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum
engineering, reservoir engineering geology or a related field).
2. Industry experience in petroleum processing facilities and/or energy pipelines and a working knowledge of the CCUS
lifecycle (e.g. capture technologies, geological formation modelling, injection, and monitoring).
3. Demonstrated experience identifying and managing risk such as strategic, operational and compliance risks, including
process safety.
4. Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication, interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills,
including the proven ability to communicate complex technical issues with clarity and influence.
5. Demonstrated experience in researching, developing, and reporting on complex technical issues.
6. Demonstrated experience in working collaboratively in dynamic teams and with industry professionals and the ability to
successfully negotiate, and resolve conflict, to identify and achieve mutually beneficial outcomes.
7. Proven organisational skills and demonstrated experience in being flexible, innovative, and having a problem-solving
approach in a dynamic and ever-changing work environment.
Desirable
1. Experience in the development of legislative frameworks, guidelines, and codes of practice.
2. Valid driver’s licence or have the ability to obtain one
