JOB SUMMARY: The Heart Cath/Special Procedures Tech assists cardiologists and radiologists in providing patient services using diagnostic and interventional techniques. Performs technical procedures to obtain radiographic films of various portions of the body using recognized radiographical techniques. Assists physicians in diagnosis of diseases and injuries with a minimum of ionizing radiation being applied. Exhibits the F.I.R.S.T. values (Friendliness, Innovation, Respect, Service, and Trust).                                                               ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: 1. Performs scrub techs responsibilities during cardiac cath and vascular procedures as a member of the team to ensure quality of patient care. 2. Performs Flouro/technical responsibilities during cardiac cath and vascular procedures to ensure the quality of care. 3. Performs Diagnostic procedures to ensure the delivery of quality care. 4. Monitors EKG and hemodynamic pressures during procedures. 5. Responsible along with RN for the documentation of patient condition and responses, medications, supplies used and any pertinent event during the procedure. 6. Contributes to the efficient operation of the department. 7. Considers the age of the patients served, applies knowledge of growth and development and age-specific techniques over the life span in planning and implementing care. 8. Maintains professional development and education. 9. Demonstrates a commitment to the mission and philosophy of quality of care and human dignity at the medical center. 10. Performs other related duties as assigned. 11. Demonstrates a commitment to incorporating the core concepts of patient family centered care into practice (dignity, respect, information sharing, and participation).  12. Demonstrates a commitment to the development and implementation of shared governance across the Organization. 13. Performs other related duties as assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS, HAZARDS AND PHYSICAL EFFORT: Works in a radiation exposure area. Exposure to infectious materials, cuts, and abrasions from equipment. A flexible work schedule is required. Constant physical activity. Strenuous activity involved with moving equipment and lifting patients. Must be able to position 25 lbs. independently and wear a lead apron for an extended period of time.   CONTACTS WITH OTHERS: Patients, visitors, medical staff and all other departments within the facility. EQUIPMENT USED/SPECIAL SKILLS REQUIRED: Ability to operate radiation exposure equipment and computers. Qualifications None.
