Description
Under general supervision, follows established policies, procedures, and professional guidelines. Responsible for monitoring and identifying basic normal cardiac rhythms, dysrhythmias, and lethal arrhythmias; reporting these findings to the appropriate personnel, and rhythm documentation and labeling per TGH policy. Promotes and maintains patient support including but not limited to: interprets and post rhythm strips and protocol, performs 12 lead EKGs. Maintain and clean portable telemetry monitors between patient use according to manufacturer's guidelines. Essential Functions · Accurately interprets changes in rhythms. · Records rhythm strips as required. · Demonstrates arrhythmia recognition skills. · Communicates lethal arrhythmias to nursing staff and documents strips as requested. · Maintains alarms on at all times with rates set safely to minimize false alarms. · Identifies individual EKGs with proper patient identifiers. · Works with the computer system, including Maintains flow through the ER and facilitate transfers, admissions and discharges timely. · Answers telephone and intercom in a pleasant and professional manner and relays message accurately and quickly. · Reports any malfunction of monitoring equipment to the Biomedical Technicians, Charge Nurse, and Nursing Director Education High School Diploma or GED License/Registration License/Registration - Issued by Florida or Compact State Certification Basic Life Support (BLS) through American Heart Association or American Red Cross Work Experience and Additional Information Basic EKG class and demonstration of competency through testing.
