Your Opportunity:
The Cardiac Diagnostics department within SHC is currently recruiting a Cardiology Technologist I. Reporting to the Unit Manager of Cardiac Diagnostics and Clinics, the Cardiology Technologist is responsible for the performance of various cardiac tests, understanding and recognizing the pathophysiology associated with these test results, and processing the resulting data. Specifically, the Cardiology Technologist will: Demonstrate proficiency and prioritization in performing electrocardiograms (ECGs). Apply, process and review the data associated with holter and event monitors. Apply blood pressure monitors. Work collaboratively with various practitioners to facilitate stress testing. The Cardiology Technologist is an essential part of the healthcare team and the successful candidate must possess strong intrapersonal skills, demonstrate an ability to clearly communicate in stressful situations, and consistently execute attention to detail in work performance. The successful candidate will understand and comply with legal requirements of licensure, the Health Professions Act, Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FOIP), Protection of Persons in Care Act, Health Information Act and other relevant legislation. They will also self-identify professional development needs and competencies thereby seeking appropriate learning opportunities and critically reflecting on their abilities and practices.
Description:

As a Cardiology Technologist I, you will prepare the patients (clients, residents) for non-invasive cardiac testing to investigate cardiac abnormalities and level of function, including Holter Monitoring, Exercise Tolerance Testing and Ambulatory Monitoring. You will explain procedures and educate patients on equipment function as required as well as collect client history for procedures and document information for physicians. You will analyze and summarize test results, and generate reports for physician interpretation. You will provide expertise in the set-up, calibration, maintenance and troubleshooting of equipment and will be required to implement resuscitation measures when necessary. You will precept, orient new staff and students and provide input into the evaluation of cardiology trainees and/or students. You will also serve as a clinical resource by providing information regarding cardiology technology to staff and patients.
