Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Outpatient Cardiac Rehab Program provides patients with exercise, education and support after a cardiovascular event. Part of the program consists of Cardiopulmonary Exercise testing, performed by a team of Cardiology Technologists.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 2 years of related experience preferred
  • Graduate of a Cardiology program recognized by the Canadian Society of Cardiology Technologists (CSCT)
  • Certification with CSCT preferred
  • Current BCLS certificate
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret ECGs, identifying cardiac arrhythmias, and electrocardiographic signs of myocardial ischemia/infarction on ECGs
  • Experience working with the EPIC system is an asset
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Committed to continuous education and training
  • Proven problem solving and efficiencies in decision making skills
  • A friendly, empathetic and respectful demeanor, and the ability work independently and collaboratively
    Additional Information
Responsibilities
  • Manages patient identification, preparation, and safety to ensure accuracy prior to examination, and maintaining confidentiality
  • Executes all cardiac testing procedures such as recording ECGs, stress testing, gas analysis and ambulatory BP monitoring in alignment with CSCT standards
  • Works collaboratively with physicians to provide patient intake medical assessments
  • Collects and documents patient information in the electronic patient record (Epic) efficiently and accurately
  • Analyzes tests to create summarized preliminary reports for physicians
  • Confirms all quality control assessments as required
  • Ensure emergency equipment is ready for use at all times
  • Works in alignment with best practices, related policies, and the health and safety legislation, and consider all reasonable precautions
  • Complies to UHN’s standards and procedures for appropriate equipment maintenance
  • Manages the efficiency and effectiveness of equipment and instrument performance
  • Supports learners in the clinical environment
  • Other duties when needed
