Job Details Job Location: The Texas Cardiac & Vascular Institute - Austin - Austin, TX Education Level: 4 Year Degree Salary Range: Undisclosed Description This position as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) is responsible for assisting in direct care for patients and performing care within their scope of practice. KEY RESPONSIBILITES: Triage and process messages from patients, family members, referring physicians, and pharmacies to appropriate staff. Performs focused assessments Communicate effectively and courteously with and demonstrate a caring attitude toward patients and family. Follow up on actions, appointments, referrals, and follow up visits. Prepare patient charts, scans paper clinical records into the EMR. Maintain clinical inventory and submit purchase orders to appropriate staff. Process patient data in a timely manner, verify all data accuracy and update daily clinic numbers spreadsheet Report concerns, problems, or complaints utilizing the proper chain of command to attain a satisfactory solution Provide support for care team Adhere to all HIPAA and company policies and procedures Escort the patient to the exam room and document the reason for the visit. Document chief complaint, vital signs, health history, and medications in EMR. Facilitate Telehealth visits in collaboration with registered nurse and provider. Give instructions and education materials to patients as directed by a physician or registered nursing staff. Escort discharged patients via wheelchair to their transportation. Safely assists patients to their vehicle. Assist with patient vital signs, 12-Lead EKG's, ABI’s, Zio Monitors, ambulation, and other patient care needs. Assist with comprehensive operation of the facility by readily participating in efficient preparation of holding areas, procedure suite, assist with cleaning, cost containment in clinical area, and other quality improvement activities. Perform all aspects of patient care in an environment that optimizes patient safety. Review each patient’s medical history, notating any drug or contrast dye allergies. Monitor patients' vital signs and recovery progress after procedure or surgery Place and maintain the patency of peripheral IVs and will Provide IV Therapy according to nursing policy and procedure that is within LVN scope of practice Administer medications before, during, and after the procedure per facility policy Assume responsibility and accountability for designated patients Provide Nursing Care to all patients of specific area of specialty and population Identify self as nurse responsible patient care to patients, family and physicians Document nursing observations according to facility charting standards (for the benefit of the patient, the nurse and the physician to visit the patient together). Report symptoms, reactions and progress of patient to the clinical supervisor and/or charge nurse and appropriate action has been taken Initiate changes to improve patient care; discusses changes with doctor when appropriate Responsible for knowledge of the legal aspects of nursing Perform other duties as assigned Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: Strong Communication skills Exceptional Time Management skills Works efficiently and has a quick response time Knowledge of medical supplies, ordered procedures, clinical inventory are helpful Working knowledge of medical terminology, HIPAA regulations, ICD, and CPT coding QUALIFICATIONS: High School graduate or Equivalent Active Non-Restricted License BLS certification by American Heart Association 1+ year previous healthcare experience WORK LOCATION AND SCHEDULE EXPECTATIONS: Assigned facility No remote scheduling available Hourly schedule as assigned PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The employee is frequently required to stand for extended periods of time and sit intermittently. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to fifty pounds. Specific hearing and vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and adjust focus.
