The CVS Program Chair/Program Director works to fulfill school objectives by providing leadership in curriculum development, planning, coordinating, staffing, and training in the assigned program area under the guidance of the Director of Education. Program Directors must also meet and fulfill the duties and responsibilities of Instructors.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Three+ years related field experience; Five + years teaching experience preferred.
  • Previous educational or related supervisory experience
  • One of the following registries: Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS); Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS); Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
  • Meet requirements of Instructor and capable of teaching a majority of the courses within the program area
  • Knowledge and understanding of the professional career paths and demands of the training field.

Responsibilities
  • Assist the Director of Education in the hiring, development, evaluation, and termination of program area Instructors.
  • Orient, monitor, supervise, mentor and assist new Instructors.
  • Ensure that all program area Instructors adhere to required administrative and classroom delivery duties and requirements as outlined in the job description for Instructor.
  • Ensure completeness of faculty files and documentation of official transcripts, professional development, observations, and performance reviews
  • Provide leadership and support to fulltime and parttime day and evening Instructors and supervise their instructional and program needs.
  • Assist the Director of Education in evaluating data collected from student questionnaires and conduct faculty conferences when necessary to discuss the results and provide recommendations for improvement.
  • Intervene in and work to resolve any personnel issues that arise among program area Instructors.
  • Assist the Director of Education in planning program budgetary needs.
  • Maintain regular contact with all day and evening students within the program area and be available to respond to their questions and/or concerns. Post student office hours Provide student advising for scheduling and programspecific guidance Refer students to appropriate staff for nonacademic problem resolution Participate in each term’s New Student Orientation Program; also orient re entering students returning to school.
  • Provide leadership in the development, implementation, evaluation, review, maintenance and effectiveness of the program’s curriculum.
  • Assist the Director of Education to ensure that the curriculum meets employer needs and course performance objectives are current.
  • Assist the Director of Education and coordinate the Advisory Board activities of local industry representatives to provide external curricula feedback.
  • Assist the Instructors to ensure all course objectives are met as outlined on the school’s official syllabus and course outline.
    Maintain a file of up-to-date course syllabi, outlines, bibliographies and library research assignments for each course.
