The ASK Wellness Society is an Accredited, not-for-profit organization. Through the generous support of funders, we assist those who are marginalized and at-risk to strengthen the communities we serve (Kamloops, Merritt, and Penticton). We provide housing and support to those who are facing or at risk of homelessness and support those who may use substances, or who require mental health supports, harm reduction, or health education. Ultimately, we aim to provide the skills to re-enter the workforce.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Under guidance from the Spero House Coordinator and community health professionals, the Enhanced Care Program aims to support vulnerable unhoused individuals who frequently utilize hospital acute care due to social and housing challenges rather than medical issues. Their distinctive combination of vulnerability, care needs, behaviors, and pre-contemplative substance use highlights the necessity for tailored ongoing support to facilitate their transition into independent housing.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have education, training, and experience in the related field.
Grade 12, plus graduation from a recognized Health Care Assistant program; or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Actively registered with the BC Care Aide & Community Health Worker Registry
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES:
Commitment to working within a low-barrier work environment with persons who present with mental health, substance use, and chronic health needs
Effective verbal and written communication skills necessary for working with persons with varied social behaviours
The ASK Wellness Society is dedicated to promoting diversity/multiculturalism with inclusion as one of our Core Values. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, ethnicity, religion, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, disability, or age
