Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
Resident Care duties relating to feeding, personal hygiene and transporting residents. Reports to Team Leader.
(1) Provides personal care to residents such as assisting the resident with bathing, dressing, care of skin and hair; changing bed; assisting with toilet needs; and overseeing resident exercise routines.
(2) Assists residents with meals by completing menu slips, serving, and collecting meal trays and feeding designated residents.
(3) Transports residents utilizing mechanical aids such as wheelchairs, and/or stretchers.
(4) Administering suppositories and enemas, obtaining specimens such as urine and charting on POC records observations, and reports problems and/or changes to designated nursing staff.
(5) Accompanies residents on outings and during social activities to provide assistance as required.
(6) Sets up charts for new residents and charts information such as weight.
(7) Performs related clerical duties such as typing, answering the telephone, making appointments, ordering supplies through stores, and maintaining records such as time sheets and daily census.
(8) Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Education requirements:

  • Education, Training and Experience -
  • Grade 10 plus graduation from a recognized Nursing Assistant Program or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
  • Must be registered and in good standing with the BC Care Aide Registry
  • Must have a valid Food Safe certificate
  • Must have current First Aid and CRP certificate

Required Skills/Knowledge:

  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to deal with others effectively
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position
  • Ability to type at 50 w.p.m. Ability to organize work
  • Ability to operate related equipment

PREFERRED SKILLS/capabilities:

Successful candidates, prior to hiring, may be required to provide:

  • Learning Hub Violence Prevention 8 High Risk Modules
  • Background check consent.
  • A clear vulnerable sector CRC.
  • Completion of our online Praesidium Abuse Training and required Health and Safety training.
  • Must be able to start on the posted start date.

Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $28.31 to $29.07 with a maximum of $29.83.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
