Due to the community-based nature of this role, having your own transport (car, scooter, or electric bike) is essential.
Role Overview

Are you a parent looking to re-enter the workforce while your children are at school? This part-time role is designed with you in mind. As a Community Home Care Assistant, you’ll provide compassionate support to adults in central Huddersfield (HD1-HD5), helping them live independently at home.

  • Contract Type: Permanent
  • Working Hours: 16–20 hours per week, scheduled mainly between school hours (9:00 AM – 2:30 PM), weekend work is essential to the role at normal working hours i.e. 07:00-14:00 or 15:00-23:00. Alternate weekends (Saturday and Sunday) are available or 1 day at the weekend every week is another option.
  • Start Date: Immediate starts available following training and DBS clearance.

Pay and Benefits

  • £12.70/hour – Weekdays before 6 PM
  • £13.25/hour – Evenings and weekends
  • Mileage paid at 25p per mile (plus support claiming HMRC relief at 20p per mile)

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Supporting with personal care such as washing, dressing, and continence needs
  • Assisting with safe mobility and equipment use
  • Supporting or administering medication routines
  • Preparing meals and ensuring good nutrition
  • Providing companionship and emotional support
  • Following care plans and updating digital records
  • Observing and reporting changes in wellbeing
  • Maintaining a safe and clean environment

  • No prior experience required – full training provided
  • A kind, reliable, and professional attitude
  • Own transport and willingness to travel locally
  • Flexibility to work one weekend day every week (or alternate full weekends)
  • Strong communication skills and a passion for helping others
