I am 12 years old and I live at home with my mum and dad, as well as my two younger brothers and my baby sister. When my mum was pregnant with me, I was not growing very well and the umbilical cord was not supplying me with all the nutrients I needed. Because of this, my mum had to have me at 34 weeks and I only weighed 4lbs. All of the healthcare professionals told my mum I was fine but at 5 weeks old my mum became concerned that I was not crying for feeds and she had to always wake me up for a feed. At a few months old I was starting to struggle with my feeds so my mum took me to hospital where they found that I had aspiration lung disease. This means that anything I have orally, will go into my lungs causing me to struggle to breath. Due to this, I have all of my nutrition and medication via a gastrostomy tube and daily chest physio. I was also born with a THOC2 gene defect which means that I have a neurocognitive and growth disorder. This was only picked up when I was not hitting my milestones and I have never been able to walk or talk. This condition is degenerative which means that I will slowly deteriorate. As a result of this, I now have epilepsy and dystonia. I enjoy having books read to me, being sung to and spending time with my family. I also enjoy going to school as have the opportunity to interact with children my own age with similar health conditions as me. What Im looking for Im looking for you to become my friend and keep my safe whilst I am at school. I want you to interact with me and make my day the best that it can be. If you are interested we are very keen to meet you.
