Responsibilities

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:

Assist in the preparation and provision of meals, have the responsibility for the day-to-day running of the kitchen ensuring compliance with relevant Health & Safety and Food Hygiene requirements.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and cook meals and snacks following pre-set menus in accordance with Health & Safety Regulations to ensure meals are nutritious, appetizing, and meet dietary and or medical needs.
  • Clean the kitchen and surrounding areas and equipment to ensure the kitchen is maintained to a high standard.
  • Ensure the security of the kitchen and storerooms is maintained at all times to provide a safe working environment.
  • Attend training courses as required.
  • Ensure your hygiene and cleanliness is of the highest standard
  • Comply with Health and Safety, Fire Regulations, and all other Home Policies
  • To complete monthly audits for kitchen reporting any finding to home manager
  • To prepare menus for the nursing home taking into account the content, balance, colour and nutritional values, inline with agreed budget.
  • To consult with residents on a regular basis to ensure that their needs and choices are being met.
  • To prepare special diets for residents as directed by the nursing staff.
  • To maintain the agreed stock levels of food.
  • To implement and maintain an agreed deep cleaning schedule for the kitchen.
  • To carry out stock takes at the end of each month.
  • To work within agreed budget guidelines on staff costs and consumables and to cooperate in any action necessary so as to keep to budget.
  • To assist in the preparation of function menus and costing.
  • To co-operate with requests from the Home Manager and residents wherever possible.
  • To attend resident/relative meetings whenever possible.
  • To be aware of the Safer Food Better Business Management System , Food Hygiene , Allergens and Infection Control Policies and procedures.
