Care Home Head Chef -

We have created a friendly environment with an individual approach to the balance of care and independence as we feel it’s important for our residents to feel at home. We are looking for an experienced head chef who is reliable and fully competent in all aspects of the kitchen.

Care Home Head Chef Duties

• Plan and deliver the full dining experience with high quality catering, contributing to the overall wellbeing of the residents within the budgets agreed
• Handle, prepare and cook all daily meals for residents and provide catering for special occasions and events, such as birthday cakes
• Create bespoke menus taking into consideration any dietary requirements
• Ensure the quality and presentation of the food is to the highest standard and specification
• Adhere to Health and Safety and encourage the principles of safe food handling to ensure all food preparation undertaken in the kitchen is to the highest standards of hygiene
• Prepare and oversee the cleaning rota, to ensure the regular cleaning of all kitchen areas, equipment and appliances to meet the high standards of cleanliness necessary in food storage, preparation and service areas
• Take reasonable care of items of equipment used to carry out tasks, including general cleanliness and advising on any faults and the need for maintenance or replacement
• To maintain records of temperatures and remedial action taken where necessary, reporting all issues to the Home Manager
• Train staff to ensure equipment is used safely and in accordance with legislation, and reporting of equipment issues to your line manager
• Ensure that work areas are kept clean and that all waste is recorded and disposed of correctly
• Manage inventory of stock and ordering materials
• Organise duty rota of staff and ensuring sickness/ annual leave is covered
• Manage, recruit, train and develop staff

Minimum Qualifications:
NVQ3 in Hospitality or equivalent
Experience:
Minimum 2 years experience working in care sector
