QUALIFIED OT, WITH A DEGREE IN OCCUPATIONAL THERAPY

Job Purpose:  To assess, plan and implement Occupational Therapy interventions and
therapy plans for residents.
Principal Responsibilities:
Delivery of Occupational Therapy Intervention
 To ensure the principles of privacy and dignity are promoted though effective working as part of
the team
 To educate on the role of Occupational Therapy and the Occupational Therapy perspective within
the Home
 To practice in-keeping with Royal College of Occupational Therapy (RCOT)
 To seek out, receive service user referrals via service users, unit staff, and resident family/friends
 To effectively prioritize service user referrals to support effective Occupational Therapy
intervention for those most in need
 To assess service user strengths and limitations in order to support care plan development and
intervention planning
 To plan and implement therapeutic intervention to support service user needs from an
Occupational Therapy perspective
 To review and re-assess therapy goals and plans when appropriate
 To maintain accurate, concise, and timely clinical documentation
 To support Occupational Therapy Assistants to deliver therapy plans
 To liaise with service users, staff, NOK, and relevant external professionals to support delivery of
therapy plans
 To facilitate the procurement of necessary equipment
 To ensure staff know how to safely use OT prescribed equipment
 Discuss the aims and objectives of Occupational Therapy/Activities with staff members, service
users and service user’s family/friends
 To attend regular clinical and non-clinical supervision to support professional development
 To implement monthly Continued Professional Development half-day (paid) as per RCOT
requirements
 Actively market the home and promote a positive personal / professional profile within the local
community, ensuring the good reputation of the Home at all times
 To report and record the well-being of service users, reporting any changes to the General Manager
or person in charge as requested by Home Manager, Deputy Manager, Head Office, and Operations

General Responsibilities
 To attend meetings as required by the home manager
 To ensure that furniture and equipment used within the home is clean and used safely, reporting
any faulty, equipment or appliances promptly
 To ensure that personal equipment of service users is kept clean and in good condition to include
items such as wheelchairs, standing frames, hearing aids and glasses
 To promptly reports complaints, concerns or safeguarding issues to the senior officer in charge,
and to provide a contemporaneous record of any such event
 To undertake cleaning duties as required including replenishing stocks of disposable items and
exercising effective measures to exercise cost control at all times
 To assist in the cleaning and maintenance of communal areas of the home, and ensuring a safe
environment is maintained
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: £14.00 per hour
Expected hours: 40 per week
