About the role

This is a permanent part-time opportunity working 21 hours/ week and will be based in Oatlands/ North Parramatta

• 3x consecutive days

Uniting is seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Administrator to support care leavers, ex-Burnsiders, and their families to access personal records and information.
This important role helps individuals reconnect with their history by providing respectful and timely access to files held by Uniting. You’ll be working directly with sensitive historical documents, supporting people who may have experienced time in out-of-home care or residential institutions like Burnside.

About You in the role

• You have the ability to respond promptly on enquiries and communicate effectively with care leavers, their families, and/or other professionals
• Your trustworthy, compassionate and have a supportive approach and you have strong self-care practices
• You are well organised and thorough, can navigate efficiently through complex and multiple files as well as complete docs and statement for the National Redress Scheme
• Managing and maintaining care leaver records and archives in line with privacy principles and government regulations
• Sourcing, redacting, and preparing historical files for care leavers, family members, courts and legal representatives
• Coordinating and supporting the annual Ex-Burnsiders Reunion – a key moment of connection and community
• Conducting internal and external tours of the Uniting Museum, sharing the history of Uniting’s care work
• Working independently with a high level of attention to detail for extended periods

About You

• Certificate 4 in Business Administration or equivalent (desirable)
• Extensive experience in administrative work
• Excellent telephone and inter-personal manner
• Excellent administration, organisational and time management skills
• Strong written and verbal communication, including the ability to convey complex information clearly and kindly
• The ability to focus for long periods reviewing and preparing detailed historical records
• A trauma-informed approach to communication and care
• Confidence working independently and taking initiative
• Comfort using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
• A current Driver’s Licence and NSW WWCC

Even Better

• Experience in database management
• A background in community services or working with people with a care experience
• Event coordination experience
