JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Support Worker to join our team. In this role, you will provide essential care and assistance to individuals in various settings, including assisted living facilities, nursing homes, and private homes. Your primary focus will be on enhancing the quality of life for our clients by offering personal care, companionship, and support tailored to their unique needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in assisted living, nursing home settings, or home care is highly desirable.
  • Previous experience in patient care, hospice care, or senior care is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of first aid principles and practices is beneficial.
  • A background in caregiving with specific experience in dementia or Alzheimer’s care is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport with clients and their families.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with patience and understanding.
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks including heavy lifting when necessary.
  • A valid driving licence is advantageous for transporting clients as needed.

Responsibilities
  • Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, dressing, and grooming.

  • Assist with mobility and transfers, including heavy lifting when necessary.
  • Engage clients in meaningful activities to promote mental and emotional well-being.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies for clients with specific needs such as dementia or Alzheimer’s care.
  • Maintain a safe and clean environment for clients at all times.
  • Document client progress and report any changes in condition to the healthcare team.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients’ overall quality of life.
  • Drive clients to appointments or social outings as required.
