Understand and follow individual risk assessments, support plans and agreed risk-management measures.

Have an awareness of safeguarding adults and understand their responsibility to recognise, record and report concerns, including allegations of abuse, neglect, exploitation or unsafe practice.

Understand the importance of duty of care while also supporting an individual's right to make choices and take positive, informed risks.

Have an awareness of the Mental Capacity Act 2005, including the importance of assuming capacity, supporting individuals to make their own decisions and acting in a person's best interests where legally appropriate.

Understand the principles of person-centred care and support, promoting independence, dignity, privacy, choice and control.

Follow appropriate infection prevention and control procedures, including good hygiene practices and the correct use of PPE where required.

Understand basic fire safety and emergency procedures, including evacuation procedures and what action to take in an emergency.

Report accidents, incidents, near misses, hazards and safeguarding concerns promptly and accurately in accordance with organisational procedures.

Maintain accurate, factual and contemporaneous records, including daily notes, incident reports and other required documentation.

Understand the importance of confidentiality, data protection and GDPR, ensuring Service Users' personal information is handled appropriately.

Maintain appropriate professional boundaries with Service Users, relatives, colleagues and other professionals.

Follow the organisation's medication policy and only provide medication support where appropriately trained, assessed as competent and authorised to do so.

Understand the importance of equality, diversity and inclusion and treat every individual with dignity and respect.

Work in accordance with agreed lone-working procedures where applicable.

Attend mandatory training and refresher training and take responsibility for maintaining the knowledge and competencies required for the role.

Immediately report any situation where they believe a Service User, colleague or member of the public may be at risk.
