THE OPPORTUNITY

When was the last time you made a difference in someone’s life?
It takes a special person to be a Care Worker and help the older members of our community to maintain their independence and wellbeing. We are looking for a Cert III qualified person with at least 6 months experience in a similar role, to join the Silverchain team in the Burleigh Heads area.

WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for people who:

  • Enjoy having variety in their day.
  • Are passionate about providing an excellent service.
  • Can build positive relationships with clients and their families.
  • Don’t sweat the small stuff. Sometimes your client will be having a bad day or traffic delays you, but you know not to take this personally and can shake it off before your next client.
  • Are comfortable working independently and finding solutions to everyday problems, knowing when to ask your manager for help.

In addition, you will need:

  • A valid Australian Driver’s Licence & your own insured, roadworthy vehicle
  • Certificate III or above in Aged Care or Individual Support or Disability
  • Experience of 6 months or more in a similar role, with experience in with personal care, manual handling, hoist training and medications.

Responsibilities

In the role of Care Worker you will be providing our aged care clients with home help services such as:

  • General housekeeping and making beds
  • Cleaning, mopping and vacuuming floors
  • Washing, folding and ironing laundry
  • Meal preparation and grocery shopping.

You will also be providing our aged care clients with personal care services such as:

  • Getting clients out of bed, showered and dressed for the day
  • Assisting clients to take their medications
  • Assisting with mobility and therapy goals
  • Providing complex care for customers with high care needs, such as dementia
  • Providing social and emotional support
  • Providing the client with transport to lifestyle activities or appointments
  • Helping the family carer to have a break or an opportunity to do other things.
