ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum four years experience in career advising graduate students in an academic environment
  • Minimum four years experience with graduate academic advising and communication in an academic setting or similar academic environment
  • Demonstrated experience in coordinating and executing small to major events involving multiple stakeholders such as, conferences, receptions, and workshops
  • Ability to create a welcoming environment for students and provide excellent customer service
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills, attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong analytical skills, professional manner, tact, diplomacy, ability to work well with all levels of faculty, staff and students
  • Effective, professional oral and written communication skills
  • Accuracy and initiative in handling multiple priorities. Ability to meet deadlines and work independently.
  • Experience with MS Office
Responsibilities

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE:

  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Conceptualizing,organizing and executing event activities
  • Identifying, fostering and maintaining relationships with potential and existing employers
  • Advising students on co-curricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual’s background
  • Screening and making referrals to academic advising and learning skills programs and other resources or services
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Hires, reviews, evaluates, and supervises TAs and work-study students
  • Training and coaching student life staff and student leaders
