  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Minimum 5 years postgraduate experience.
  • Minimum of 5 year experience of working in Tertiary -Quaternary centre.
  • Proficiency in airway management, advanced resuscitation skills and in central venous and arterial line insertion.
  • Previous experience in the Intensive Care Department and wide range of medical experience, and in the assessment and management of Intensive Care patients.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing self-education and development.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) including relevant computer skills.
  • Evidence of continuing professional development in Intensive Care Medicine (ie ALS, APLS, ELS course completion)
Responsibilities

To provide high quality medical care to inpatients in the Intensive Care Unit (the unit is currently accredited for C24 CICM training) under the direction of the Duty Intensivist responsible for the inpatients. To assess inpatients in the remainder of the hospital whose condition is deteriorating and who possibly require transfer to the Intensive Care Unit. CICM Trainees or equivalent experience welcome to apply.
The CMO provides high quality experienced clinical service to the Intensive Care Department. The personal development aim is to develop the skills and knowledge needed to operate independently as an Intensive Care Department medical practitioner. This can be achieved through structured and supervised observation of, exposure to, and management of patients, as well as participation in ICU education and quality assurance activities.
