Responsibilities

To provide effective after-hour clinical management of ward inpatients across all acute and subacute wards and the
Coronary Care Unit (CCU), as the most senior doctor on site for these areas.
The position-holder is expected to consult as appropriate with relevant Ryde-based consultants and specialty
registrars (e.g. General Surgery, Orthopaedics, Anaesthetics, ICU, ED) as well as specialty teams at other facilities as
needed, and to supervise the afterhours ward JMOs, with key tasks including patient assessment, making treatment
decisions, performing procedures, maintaining accurate and thorough medical records in an afterhours environment

and ensuring effective clinical handover at the end of each shift.

  • Qualifications and experience commensurate with the Essential Requirements for the role.
  • 2Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team in the planning, delivery and coordination of patient care.
  • High level communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience
  • Demonstrated organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated high level independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and solve problems with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly.
