POSITION DESCRIPTION: Workforce Development Specialist Reporting To: Workforce Development Manager Status: FT/Non-exempt This role supports clients participating in the Welfare Transition Program in Sarasota/Manatee with career readiness solutions such as scholarships for training, career planning including resume and job search assistance, referrals to community resources and provides on-going, comprehensive case management to program participants to help them achieve their personal and financial career goals. Empathizing, interacting, communicating with and responding to client needs and requests are essential for this position. Major Duties and Responsibilities: Primary Duties Provide case management coordination to facilitate the greatest level of success for the client, state and local performance Verify eligibility for program services Assess clients to gather information on training needs, educational background, work experience, skills, interests and any barriers to employment Assist clients with developing a financial plan and budget matrix Assist clients with identifying employment goals and career development needs, and developing achievable and realistic service and employment plans Work with clients to become self-sufficient to reduce and end public assistance Authorize and coordinate supportive services such as child care, transportation, etc., and track obligations of funds when appropriate Monitor clients’ progress during participation in appropriate activities and issue penalties when clients are out of compliance Ensure case record documentation is current, submitted timely, accurate and thorough and compliant with established policies and procedures in CRM system Assist clients in working with other community and social service organizations by serving as an advocate Assist clients with job placement Collaborate with Senior Workforce Development Specialists (WDS) and Managers to develop innovative methods for assisting clients with reaching their career goals Regularly monitor, review, and discuss performance reports with colleagues and Senior WDS Frontline Client Service: Assess client needs at front desk, then provide direct instruction and information, appropriate points of contact, and additional resources in person and via telephone. Requires basic knowledge of all CareerSource Suncoast programs and related community service providers. Assist clients in accessing and navigating job search websites, online tutorials and assessments, training and social service websites, and email providers. Critique, proofread, edit, and format client resumes. Assist clients in completion of Florida Skills Assessment- comprehensive online career assessment and interpretation & application of results Document provided services and case notes in in appropriate CRM system(s) Ensure priority of service to all identified US military veterans; conduct initial assessments for veterans with qualifying employment barriers Other Duties Develop general knowledge of all programs and services delivered through CareerSource Suncoast. Develop and maintain effective professional relationships with all CSS/CareerSource Suncoast management, staff, partners and clients Attend and participate in center and programmatic staff meetings/training May facilitate various workshops and orientations to educate clients on available programs and services Perform other related job duties as requested Note: The omission of specific statements does not preclude the assignment of specific duties not listed if such duties are a logical assignment to the position. Requirements Education and Experience – Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university or college in Business, Human Services, Education or related field plus 2 years related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Of the 2 years related experience, a minimum of 1 year of career development experience is preferred. Minimum Digital Literacy – Average Competency in Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel). Ability to work in SharePoint / word docs ( uploading and sending adobe for signatures etc.) Must be able to maintain and update Outlook calendar on a daily basis, share calendar, and search others’ Basic competency in social media (i.e. LinkedIn) including profile creation and regular monitoring. Support resources are available.
