Description Job Summary: Directs staff engaged in providing residential, recreational, student personnel, and safety and security services and ensures Career Success departmental programs and standards meet all DOL, PRH, Center and corporate requirements. Duties: Management of Residential, Recreation, Security, and Student Personnel departmental areas; issues shift assignments, directs tasks, monitors and evaluates performance of workers assigned to shift. Train, supervise, and evaluate direct report staff and makes recommendations regarding corrective actions, promotions, and/or merit increases. Informs staff of the medical needs of injured or sick students on Center, ensures directives and health orders for non-health personnel are followed and authorizes the dispensing of medication after consultation with the Center physician. Initiates strategies to continuously improve the climate of the center to improve student satisfaction, reduce negative separations, and promote retention. Provides overall supervision of the Recreation function. Prepares, communicates, and administers a diverse recreation component, including leisure-time learning and employment programs. Briefs the oncoming shift supervisor(s) before departure. This includes medical conditions of students injured or sick, incidents, safety and security. Conducts daily brief in and brief out with SPO. Conducts staff training for Residential, Recreation, Security and Student Personnel Staff to promote improvements in programs and student achievement. Monitors OMS outcomes by dormitory. Ensures the safety, health and security of students, staff, and property. Ensures appropriate support for the centers Healthy Eating and Active Lifestyles Committee. Ensures that Residential Staff assist students in development of long- and short-terms goals and document same on the students’ MyPACE Career Plan. Monitors progress through effective and timely ESPs. Complies with all DOL guidelines, Job Corps notices and bulletins, and center policies and procedures. Maintains accountability of students and ensures morning accountability check is forwarded to student records department in a timely and accurate manner. Conducts and documents quality assurance audits and self-evaluations to ensure program quality and integrity. Adheres to required property controls policies and procedures. Maintains good housekeeping in all areas and complies with safety practices. Conducts and documents regular staff meetings with assigned staff. Models, mentors, and monitors appropriate career success skills. Helps students become more employable through continuous reinforcement of independent living skills. Participates in PRH mandated staff training. Performs other duties as assigned within the individual’s scope and capabilities. Requirements Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The ability to work some evening hours and periodic weekends, and the ability to travel periodically are required. Experience: 2 years’ experience working with youth and one year of supervisory experience preferred. Previous Job Corps experience preferred. Education: Postsecondary degree required. Bachelor’s degree in Social Services or related field preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid State driver’s license required.
