JOB SUMMARY

The Personal Care Assistant (PCA) plays a vital role in providing compassionate and dedicated support to individuals in need of assistance with daily living activities. This position involves working closely with clients in various settings, including home care. The PCA is responsible for ensuring the comfort, safety, and well-being of clients while promoting their independence and dignity.

SKILLS

  • First aid and CPR certification are required.
  • Experience in assisted living / personal care is preferred.
  • Ability to perform heavy lifting when assisting clients with mobility needs.
  • Familiarity with caregiving techniques for individuals with disabilities.
  • Proficient in cooking and meal preparation tailored to individual dietary requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team while also being self-motivated.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact positively with clients, families, and healthcare professionals. This role requires a compassionate individual who is committed to providing high-quality personal care while fostering a supportive environment for those they assist.

Responsibilities
  • Assist clients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting.
  • Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance the quality of life for clients.
  • Monitor client health status.
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with meal planning according to dietary needs.
  • Maintain a clean and safe living environment by performing light housekeeping tasks.
  • Assist with medication administration as per care plans and under supervision when necessary.
  • Support clients with mobility assistance, including the use of Hoyer lifts when required.
  • Engage clients in social activities and encourage participation in community events.
  • Implement care plans developed by healthcare professionals to meet individual client needs.
