Position: Child Caregiver Department: Child Care Center Reports to: Department Supervisor Created: 4/16/2025 JOB SUMMARY The Child Care Caregiver is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children in their care. This role supports children’s physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through structured activities and attentive supervision. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES * Supervise and ensure the safety of children at all times * Assist with planning and implementing age-appropriate activities and curriculum * Promote positive behavior and social skills through guidance and role modeling * Monitor and document developmental progress, behavior, and milestones * Support meal times, diapering, toileting, and naptime routines * Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding child progress and concerns * Maintain a clean, organized, and safe environment per licensing and health standards * Follow all center policies, licensing regulations, and safety protocols * Collaborate with other caregivers and staff to create a cohesive care team QUALIFICATIONS * High school diploma or GED required * Previous experience in a licensed child care setting preferred * CPR and First Aid certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire) * Ability to lift 30+ lbs, bend, kneel, and sit on the floor with children * Strong communication, patience, and organizational skills * Passion for working with young children in a diverse, inclusive environment WORK ENVIRONMENT * Indoor/outdoor childcare center or classroom * Physically active role requiring constant supervision, engagement, and movement
