Brackenfield School is an area special school for the South of Derbyshire, providing an education for young people with learning and communication needs and is opening a new Post 16 site in September 2025.
The Head Teacher and Governors wish to appoint a Caretaker / Cleaner Operative to support the effective daily running of both school sites.
Monday – Friday: 06:00 – 08:00 AND 15:00 – 17:00 / 20 Hours per WEEK / 40 WEEK per annum
Grade 4 £11,385.60 (Actual Salary )

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POST:

Responsible to: Facilities Manager & Headteacher.
Line Manager: Facilities Manager.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To operate as part of a small team providing site maintenance/security and cleaning support with additional maintenance tasks.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Work is focused on delivery of cleaning services and support activities working to standard instructions. Issues are escalated to the Manager as appropriate. Practical tasks include but are not limited to cleaning, maintenance, grounds work, security and safety of the school site, low level maintenance of school Vehicles, lettings duties; setting up & clearing rooms.

GENERAL SITE DUTIES

 To ensure that halls and other meeting rooms are set out as required for meetings, assemblies and other events and cleared away afterwards
 To manage the provision of a porter and furniture moving service as required in order that school activities can proceed
 Check and carry out low level maintenance of school vehicle’s including arranging servicing and repairs, refuelling and delivery to service centres.
 To undertake necessary cleaning work as required
 To collect and dispose of all waste, refuse and surplus materials
 To carry out the cleaning sensory rooms (such as the termly cleaning of the bubble tubes)
