KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED

Include but are not limited to:

  • Previous commercial and/or institutional construction experience is required.
  • Journeyman or Apprentice Carpenter ticket is required, Red Seal Endorsement is preferred.
  • Finishing carpenters are preferred.
  • Excellent understanding of carpentry techniques and methods of installation and construction is required.
  • Proficiency using electrical and manual equipment and measurement tools is required.
  • Ability to read technical documents and drawings is required.
  • Zoom boom, skid steer, fall protection, aerial work platform tickets, are an asset.
  • Must possess a valid Standard First Aid Level C or higher.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of safety guidelines and the ability to instill a strong safety culture.
  • Must be able to work extended hours as required.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, including oral, written and presentation abilities, as well as networking and relationship building skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work independently to complete assigned tasks.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks.
  • Demonstrated desire to be a lifelong learner.
  • A strong service orientation, with a focus on making Aman Builders a respected and reputable construction company.
  • Strong “team” orientation, with demonstrated group process skills; this includes participation in high level planning and group involvement processes.

Responsibilities

Include but are not limited to:

  • Building foundations, installing floor beams, laying sub-flooring, and installing walls and roofing systems.
  • Ensures the accuracy of construction by reading and interpreting blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine specifications and calculate requirements.
  • Contributes to construction plans by building foundations, installing floor beams, laying sub-flooring, and installing walls and roofing systems.
  • Completes finishing carpentry activities by fitting and installing trim, doors, stairs, molding, and hardware.
  • Ensures accurate measuring by confirming cuts, and joining materials made of wood or wood substitutes.
  • Supports crew by building scaffolding and other construction structures, as required.
  • Ensures layouts are in conformance with building codes by utilizing measuring tools.
  • Ensures quality of the final product by maintains communication with the crew.
  • Aides in crew efficiencies by ensuring the site is clean and organized at the start and end of each shift.
  • Maintains good working order of equipment by keeping equipment clean and free of debris and other hazards.
  • Complete operational requirements by assigning tasks to direct reports and following up on work results.
  • Leads and manages human resources initiatives and activities for direct reports including coaching, recruitment, on-boarding, performance management, employee development, employee recognition and general support.
  • Enhances productivity by providing suggestions to refine workflow and boost efficiency.
  • Prepares and maintains the Health & Safety on construction sites by; maintaining awareness of surroundings, observing stipulated safety codes at all times and reporting injuries and other accidents to Foreman.
  • Supports administration by completing required paperwork, and other documentation as required.
