JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking an exceptionally skilled Carpenter with at least 10 years’ experience in bespoke furniture making. The right candidate will be highly experienced in English traditional furniture craftsmanship and able to produce work of the very highest standard.
While carpentry and joinery are the primary focus of this role, the ideal candidate will also have upholstery skills to support the wider production team when needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum 10 years’ professional carpentry/joinery experience (essential).
  • Strong expertise in bespoke furniture making and English traditional furniture styles.
  • Upholstery skills and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of wood species, veneers, and finishing techniques.
  • Ability to interpret and work from technical drawings.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a passion for craftsmanship.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Physical stamina for workshop tasks (lifting, bending, standing).
  • Carpentry/joinery training or certification preferred but not essential.

EXPERIENCE:

Carpentry 10 years (required)

Responsibilities
  • Build and assemble high-end bespoke furniture frames and components.
  • Work confidently with both traditional English furniture and contemporary designs.
  • Carry out upholstery on sofas, armchairs, headboards, dining chairs, and similar items when required.
  • Interpret CAD drawings, templates, and detailed specifications.
  • Select and prepare premium woods, veneers, fabrics, and other materials.
  • Operate woodworking machinery and hand tools safely and effectively.
  • Install finishing elements such as hinges, handles, and decorative details.
  • Collaborate with the production team to meet deadlines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment.
