Integrity ~ Precision ~ Growth ~ Driven ~ Relationships POSITION SUMMARY: A Carpenter with Elmington Construction is a vital part of the organization. KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES: * Communication Skills * Basic Mathematical Skills * Problem Solving Skills * Knowledge of construction & rough carpentry * Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to liaise effectively with team members and leadership. * Outstanding organizational skills to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and deadlines efficiently. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: * Builds rough wooden structures, such as vertical and horizontal concrete forms, gang forms, blocking, Johnny clamp forms, scaffolds, tunnel, bridge, or sewer supports, according to sketches, blueprints, or oral instructions * Models safety as a core guiding principle and brings safety concerns to the Superintendent * Works at elevated heights, frequently lift materials weighing up to 50lbs and work in outside all weather conditions * Plans, lays out, installs forms, rebar, embeds, anchor bolts, and concrete in accordance with all applicable plans, specifications, codes, and industry standards. * Uses appropriate hand and power tools to properly measure, cut, assemble and install forms, rebar, embeds and anchor bolts. * Constructs built-in-place or prefabricated wooden forms, according to specifications for molding concrete structures. * Erects built-in-place forms or assemble and install prefabricated forms. * Inserts spreaders and tie-rods between opposite pieces to maintain specific dimensions. * Anchors and braces forms to fixed objects using nails, bolts, anchor rods, steel cables, planks and timber. * Builds wooden structures such as scaffold supports and frame shelters according to specifications and project specifications. * Pours concrete into finished forms to specified textures; vibrate, level, smooth and shape surface of concrete. * Finishes concrete surfaces to specifications; remove rough or defective spots from concrete surfaces using power grinder or chisel and hammer and patch holes with fresh concrete or epoxy compound; and install all other items in accordance with the applicable plans and specifications. * Perform all other duties as assigned. PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT * Must be able to work outside on construction site including all types of weather (extremes of hot/cold) * You will be working in a temporary facility/structure * Able to stand; crawl; climb ladders & stairs; balance; stoop and kneel; etc (physical activities associated with construction sites) * You must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move more than 100 pounds * Specific vision abilities required by this job include distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus * You frequently work near moving mechanical parts. You occasionally work in high, precarious places and are occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. You should be able to recognize these hazards or potential hazards a react accordingly to protect the workforce and provide OSHA compliant safeguards * Frequently sit, stand and walk. * Regularly required to talk or hear. * Frequently required to use hands or fingers to handle or feel objects, tools or controls. * Occasionally required to climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. * Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. * Vision abilities to include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus. * The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. * Temperature in the workplace is typically moderate, though the ability to withstand seasonal cold and heat of the outdoors is necessary.
