• Job Objective:The Carpenter is responsible for the construction, erection, installation and repair of structures and fixtures of wood, plywood, wallboard and other materials.
• Experience required: AQF Certificate III including at least two years employment experienceor minimum 3 years employment experience may substitute for qualification.
• Job Tasks and Duties:
• Site safety, plant and power tool safety;
• Study specifications in blueprint, sketches site conditions to prepare project layout and determine dimensions and materials required;
• All procedures associated with 1st & 2nd Fixing;
• Manual lifting & handling;
• Cut timber & other materials with hand & power tools, nail & assemble cut & shaped parts;
• Erect framework;
• Assemble and fasten materials to make framework and props, using hand tools and wood screws, nails, dowel pins, or glue;
• Install structures and move into position;
• Erect scaffolding for assembling of structures;
• Construction of the forms including placement of required supports / propping, connection of shutters via z-bars, levelling of wall and induction of pour height;
• Explain and enforce Occupational Health and Safety requirements and other industrial safety matters;
• Maintain a safe and clean work environment;
• Instruct onsite personnel of lesser experience.
