Description
Under general supervision, the Carpenter is responsible for the construction, installation, repairs and maintenance of cabinet work, drywall partitions, doors and frames, windows, concrete floors, furniture, framework, locks, hardware, hinges, closures, weather stripping, blinds, curtain track and ceiling tile, exterior building repairs including soffits, minor glazing, caulking and minor roof repairs. Functions in accordance with duties defined in the job description of a Carpenter. May be assigned to work at any HHS site. 1. Current Province of Ontario General Carpenter Trade Certificate 2. Minimum five years experience as a qualified Tradesperson 3. Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English 4. Demonstrated ability to use tools and equipment of the trade 5. Demonstrated ability and willingness to work in areas that are cold, hot, dusty, dirty, noisy amongst machinery, at elevated levels and cramped quarters 6. Must be willing to provide own hand tools of the trade 7. Demonstrated ability to bend, crawl, lift heavy items, climb, work from ladders and scaffolding, and as required, wear a respirator to work in mechanical spaces containing sprayed asbestos fire-proofing
